Photo courtesy of Owen Gildersleeve 72 n AudioFile/ Whether he's cutting paper or editing pho- tographs, Owen Gildersleeve's layered cut paper art is labor intensive, and he says that audio- books are a good escape. "I find the best time to listen is when I really want to lock in and get stuck into an artwork." Owen is currently working on a project with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and another of his recent projects, the cover illustration for David Yoon's YA novel Frankly in Love (see the review on page 58), received a Communication Arts Typography Award of Excellence. Life as a busy freelance artist doesn't leave much time to sit down and read, Owen says. "So audiobooks are a really great option for me."—Jennifer M. Dowell
